Week 13 of Second Trimester
Discover what happens during week 13 of second trimester. Baby development, body changes, symptoms, and a weekly checklist.
What's Happening This Week
One-third of your pregnancy is behind you! A new trimester ushers in new energy and expectations. Pause, soak it all in; or go ahead and plan an adventurous (yet responsible) babymoon - do what your heart (/bump) says.
Second Trimester is a time of rapid change — for both you and your baby. Every pregnancy is unique, and the information below will help you understand what's happening and how to prepare for the weeks ahead.

Your Body
Blood volume continues increasing to support the placenta and growing baby. Your uterus expands upward, while hormonal shifts may begin feeling less abrupt than before. Energy levels often improve around this stage, though your body is still working continuously.
What You Might Notice
You may feel more physically balanced or emotionally steady compared to earlier weeks. Some people also begin noticing subtle changes in posture, appetite, or abdominal firmness.
Your Baby
Bones continue hardening, fingerprints begin forming, and vocal cord development starts. Your baby can swallow small amounts of amniotic fluid and continues practicing movement. Growth now becomes more rapid and proportionate.
