Week 18 of Second Trimester
Discover what happens during week 18 of second trimester. Baby development, body changes, symptoms, and a weekly checklist.
What's Happening This Week
In the midst of highly accomplished weeks in terms of growth and development, pat yourself (and your partner) on the back for making it to where you are currently. While you still might be facing a number of issues, we are so proud of you for battling with much worse in your previous weeks. We are happy for you and hope you’re happy too!
Second Trimester is a time of rapid change — for both you and your baby. Every pregnancy is unique, and the information below will help you understand what's happening and how to prepare for the weeks ahead.

Your Body
Your uterus expands further into the abdomen, changing posture and shifting your center of gravity. Increased circulation supports growth but can also contribute to swelling, headaches, or occasional dizziness. Your body is now visibly adapting to accommodate the pregnancy.
What You Might Notice
You may begin feeling more distinct fluttering or movement sensations around now. Lower back tension, nasal congestion, or mild swelling can also begin appearing more regularly.
Your Baby
The ears are now positioned closer to their final location, and your baby may begin hearing muffled internal sounds like your heartbeat and digestion. Muscles continue strengthening, allowing more active twisting, kicking, and stretching movements.
