Week 19 of Second Trimester
Discover what happens during week 19 of second trimester. Baby development, body changes, symptoms, and a weekly checklist.
What's Happening This Week
You’re almost five months pregnant! From finding baby names and adoring the kids section at the mall, to discussing childcare and parenting styles, this stage of pregnancy is surely keeping you occupied. Keep going, we are here for you every step of the way!
Second Trimester is a time of rapid change — for both you and your baby. Every pregnancy is unique, and the information below will help you understand what's happening and how to prepare for the weeks ahead.

Your Body
Your growing uterus places increasing pressure on the abdomen and surrounding muscles. Blood flow and fluid retention continue increasing to support the pregnancy and placenta. Skin stretching becomes more noticeable as your body makes room for continued growth.
What You Might Notice
You may notice stronger kicks, stretching sensations, or itching as the skin expands. Sleep positions may also start feeling less comfortable than before.
Your Baby
A protective coating called vernix caseosa begins forming over the skin, helping shield it from constant exposure to amniotic fluid. Sensory development continues rapidly, especially touch and hearing. Movement patterns become stronger and more coordinated.
