Week 26 of Second Trimester
Discover what happens during week 26 of second trimester. Baby development, body changes, symptoms, and a weekly checklist.
What's Happening This Week
As the focus switches from pregnancy to labour, you might be experiencing the need for an update in strategy. Keep learning new things everyday as you make preparations to welcome your little birdie soon. The key to keep going in times that test your patience, is patience itself.
Second Trimester is a time of rapid change — for both you and your baby. Every pregnancy is unique, and the information below will help you understand what's happening and how to prepare for the weeks ahead.

Your Body
Your uterus now takes up a significant portion of the abdominal space, affecting posture, breathing, and digestion. Increased pressure on the ribs and pelvic muscles can make movement feel heavier or slower. Your body is preparing for the rapid growth of the third trimester.
What You Might Notice
You may feel more physically limited now, especially after standing or walking for long periods. Shortness of breath, back discomfort, or interrupted sleep may become more frequent.
Your Baby
The eyes begin partially opening, and the brain becomes more active in regulating movement, sleep, and sensory development. Hearing continues improving, and your baby may respond more noticeably to familiar sounds. The lungs continue developing but still require more maturation.
