Week 27 of Second Trimester
Discover what happens during week 27 of second trimester. Baby development, body changes, symptoms, and a weekly checklist.
What's Happening This Week
The end of this week marks your biggest breakthrough. The third trimester finally begins bringing with itself new joys, and jitters, to your journey. We are so proud of you for making this far. We are here to answer all your questions, as big as your bump or as small as your baby. Buckle up, hardly 3 months to go!
Second Trimester is a time of rapid change — for both you and your baby. Every pregnancy is unique, and the information below will help you understand what's happening and how to prepare for the weeks ahead.

Your Body
Your uterus continues pressing upward against the diaphragm and outward against abdominal muscles. Circulation, metabolism, and fluid retention all increase as your body supports continued rapid fetal growth. The physical demands of pregnancy become much more noticeable now.
What You Might Notice
You may feel stronger kicks, tighter abdominal stretching, or more pressure on the ribs and pelvis. Fatigue often returns around now, even after lighter activity.
Your Baby
Brain development accelerates significantly this week, creating more complex neural connections. The lungs continue maturing, while body fat helps smooth and round out the skin. Movements may feel stronger, sharper, and more predictable now.

Your Week 27 Checklist
