Week 39 of Third Trimester
Discover what happens during week 39 of third trimester. Baby development, body changes, symptoms, and a weekly checklist.
What's Happening This Week
As you unlock another treasure chest of being full term, your biggest reward is now a blink away (or maybe just another very tiring thousands of blinks or so). Once the baby arrives, your life will not be the same, especially initially, so make sure to soak it all in every once in a while.
Third Trimester is a time of rapid change — for both you and your baby. Every pregnancy is unique, and the information below will help you understand what's happening and how to prepare for the weeks ahead.

Your Body
Your uterus remains at or near its maximum size, placing intense pressure on the pelvis, bladder, hips, and lower back. Hormonal activity continues preparing the cervix and muscles involved in labor. Your body is now waiting for labor signals to fully begin.
What You Might Notice
You may feel increased contractions, stronger pelvic pressure, or sudden waves of fatigue and discomfort. Emotionally, this stage can feel exciting, restless, overwhelming, or deeply surreal all at once.
Your Baby
The lungs are fully mature, and body fat continues helping with temperature regulation and energy storage after birth. Most organs are fully developed and functioning, while the brain continues important growth right up until delivery. Movements remain important, even if they feel different now.
