Week 9 of First Trimester
Discover what happens during week 9 of first trimester. Baby development, body changes, symptoms, and a weekly checklist.
What's Happening This Week
As you move through week 9, it is completely valid to experience discomfort, uncertainty and anxiety. However, it is important to remember that you are doing an incredible task by growing a new life! Pause and acknowledge the amazing changes happening around you and the miracle of your little baby.
First Trimester is a time of rapid change — for both you and your baby. Every pregnancy is unique, and the information below will help you understand what's happening and how to prepare for the weeks ahead.

Your Body
Your uterus continues expanding upward while hormone levels remain high to support rapid development. Digestion often slows further now, which can contribute to bloating, constipation, or discomfort after eating. Your body is also increasing blood production to support the placenta and growing pregnancy.
What You Might Notice
You may feel physically drained one moment and completely hungry the next. Food cravings, aversions, bloating, emotional sensitivity, and changing energy levels are all common around now.
Your Baby
Facial features become more defined this week, including the eyelids, ears, and nose. Muscles and nerves begin working together more smoothly, allowing small movements and stretches. The heart is now fully divided into chambers and beating steadily.
