Week 28 of Third Trimester
Discover what happens during week 28 of third trimester. Baby development, body changes, symptoms, and a weekly checklist.
What's Happening This Week
You are gracefully proceeding with the exhilarating realm of the third trimester! Now, you're traversing the terrain of swollen ankles, spontaneous cravings, and the occasional kickboxing match with the little one. Prepare for the wild ride ahead as you embark on the final stretch. Bravo, and let the countdown to babyhood continue!
Third Trimester is a time of rapid change — for both you and your baby. Every pregnancy is unique, and the information below will help you understand what's happening and how to prepare for the weeks ahead.

Your Body
Your uterus expands further upward and outward, increasing pressure across the ribs, pelvis, and lower back. Blood circulation and oxygen demands remain high as your body supports both fetal growth and placental function. This marks the beginning of the third trimester.
What You Might Notice
Movements may feel stronger and easier to recognize as patterns emerge. You may also notice increased fatigue, interrupted sleep, swelling, or more difficulty getting comfortable physically.
Your Baby
Your baby can now blink, dream during sleep cycles, and respond more clearly to sound, light, and movement. Brain activity continues increasing rapidly, while the lungs keep maturing for life outside the womb. Body fat continues building beneath the skin.
