Week 16 of Second Trimester
Discover what happens during week 16 of second trimester. Baby development, body changes, symptoms, and a weekly checklist.
What's Happening This Week
At week 16, you're 4 months pregnant! We bet your elation is developing in a direct proportion to the baby’s muscles and bones. As you feel the first jolts from the inside, make sure to have a little conversation with your little life, as they are now starting to hear limited sounds. Sit back and enjoy the honeymoon phase of your pregnancy!
Second Trimester is a time of rapid change — for both you and your baby. Every pregnancy is unique, and the information below will help you understand what's happening and how to prepare for the weeks ahead.

Your Body
Your uterus continues rising upward and becoming easier to feel from the outside. Increased blood flow and expanding tissues support rapid development but can also place added pressure on the back and pelvis. Your body is now sustaining significant physical growth every day.
What You Might Notice
You may begin noticing subtle fluttering sensations, especially if this isn’t your first pregnancy. Back discomfort, stretching sensations, or increased appetite can also become more noticeable now.
Your Baby
Muscles and bones continue strengthening, and your baby can now make more coordinated movements. The eyes begin slowly shifting toward the front of the face, and facial muscles continue developing. Some people may soon begin feeling the earliest flutter-like movements.
